The Samsung CLP-300 is one of the smallest and least expensive colour laser printer on the market and aims to bring colour laser printing to the home user. First thing the strikes you about the CLP-300 is that is remarkable compact for a colour laser printer measuring just 391 x 410 x 260mm (WDH) this is thanks to the unique configuration of its printer cartridges. As a result of the Samsung CLP-300 toner cartridges being smaller than usual it means they yield fewer pages but in terms of cost per pages they work out to be about average. There are also remanufactured Samsung toner cartridges available for the CLP-300. Print quality of the CLP-300 isn’t quite to the standard of the average colour laser printer but considering this is one of the first budget laser printers you can’t expect it to produce the same results as a printer that costs 3 times more. Printing text is good and it stays true to the official 16ppm speed in the spec sheet but colour printing reduces the speed considerably and printing anything more than basic graphics in colour leaves you feeling a little under whelmed. Build quality of the CLP-300 is pretty average, some of the plastics feels a bit flimsy, especially the front cover which hides the toners cartridges which is not great because it needs a good tug to get it open when changing the cartridges. The Samsung CLP-300 has no surprises its true to its word and this makes is a good buy.
